You know, i could never get on with strat's, I've always been/liked either Les Paul's, and Telecasters, but anyway i went to the guitar shop, and i saw this Strat, looked really nice, i ask to try it out, and wow, it just played great, felt right, the first time ever that a Strat has felt so good, so i had to buy it, i have had a few Strats before, but i always sold them on pretty quick, but this one i don't think I'm gonna sell on, here's a few photos, i just love the grain of the wood, it very similar to my Fret King Bass that i have

I have to say cofi I been feelin the same way about a Strat as you lately. My fav guitar shop started gettin a bunch in and I tried one out. Felt real nice, ( for a fender, just kiddin). Like you I'm a Gibson Guy but they sure are nice. The guitar tech at the shop has a Strat he hotrodded and man, talk about sing. The one I played off the shelf had the hb and 2 single coils. Have you tried your Strat out with lots of pregain yet to see how it sounds real dirty?
I like the one you bought too. I been fond of natural wood finish for a long time. Especially when you got some good grain. And that shade on the body fits the rosewood neck. Just me but I'm not crazy about the maple necks, they just look to white. But now a maple top is fine as frog hair.
That's a nice bass too. I had a Fender Precision Bass back in the late 70's I got real cheap from a friend. He tried to learn it but couldn't so went back to guitar. I tried but just couldn't get used to the wide string gap on basses. I couldn't play it very well either. I rather guitar too and traded it for a motorcycle. One of the best trades I ever did.
So since you got that Strat are you gonna do some chicken pickin southern rock style?

Thanks whitey, she sounds good with a lot of gain, but I'm getting into more of a SRV type of tone, you can get a lot of variations with the S-1 switch, you get the normal five positions and with the S-1 you get another five, i can get a clancky type of sound which sound's pretty good to my ear's, which i seem to be using a lot lol, but i still feel more comfortable with my Gibos, i think it might be the bound necks on the gibos, i don't know, but she's nice Yes I'm the same as you, i don't like and cant get on with maple necks, don't know why, just cant, i like either rosewood or ebony, ;D I think she'd look fugly with a maple neck and natural finish, wouldn't look right IMO,

I like the "clanky" sound myself, not for everything but it works if you got the ear to put it where it is useful. I can get the clanky sound with my LP Recording in the out of phase mode using both pups. It can get real trebbly when I cut the bass down or all the way out. SRV has some really nice licks too brother. I have his Greatest Hits Vol 1 & Vol 2 and he kicks ass.
Thanks for the tip on the S1 switch. Next time I'm at the guitar shop up the road I'm gonna see if they got one and give it a strum or two.
Just curious, do you do any slide?

Hey Whitey, Yes i can play slide, i usually play in normal tuning, with the bands i was in, But on the resonator i play in D, or sometimes in E, Do you play slide? it's good fun for a change, Mind you I cant play as good as Derek Trucks mind you, now he is one serious slide player, but i get along

That looks cool man, lovely grain, i was trying out some strats in my local shop last week, they only had some standard strats, and a few custom shop ones, they had a right handed but looked like a left handed one, you know like youd turn a left hander and played it right handed, strange.
but i gota say i like telecasters bettar, i think it that third pick up in the middle that throws me off strats, that why i like Telecasters or Les Pauls, just two pickups, not that iv got the money to buy a Les Paul, but i can dream lol.
