I been tryin some open tuning, G & E, but get fumbled fingered. I'm tryin those 2 so I can remember the fretboard easier. I never did any alt tuning and it's just hard to get used to. I tried the open G on Bad to the Bone and started gettin it, after almost an hour of playin, but I'm still tryin.

Whoa, nice Strat Ed.
Whitey, it's just like learning new chords, just one more chord. (If that makes any sense)
Here's another common open G chord. (Think of a minor 7 barre chord on standard tuning.)
_0_|___|___| ___|_0_|___| _0_|___|___| ___|___|_0_| _0_|___|___| _0_|___|___|
It didn't come out quite the way I wanted it to. And it's from memory, I don't have a guitar handy at the moment. Any corrections are welcome.

I see the m7 ok. I know what you mean about tellin somebody how to play, it's a lot easier to show em. As long as I go slow it's ok. When I try to pick up speed that's when the old standard E stuff starts kickin in. But I'll keep on tryin. I might get it in a couple of years.

That chord and the one finger barre chord go well together in open G. Keith Richards used them quite a bit. here's something you can try, Start on the fifth fret with the one finger barre chord. (Try to play the intro to "Start me Up" by the Rolling Stones, using the chord in the diagram above) both chords will be on the fifth fret. Then, for the last part of the intro, move the one finger barre chord to the 3rd fret. Do a little boogie style with the one finger barre chord on the third fret, and start again. I wish I could just show you, I'll try to tab it and post it later. The main idea is to just get used to changing those two chords quickly, Have fun

Hmmm, hmmm, any Strat playin updates cofi? I stopped by the music store this weekend and saw a Strat like yours, just different color. I started to pick it up and try out the S1 switch but resisted the temptation. As long as I don't play it I can just browse and be ok. Once I start playin on one and I like it chances are good it could come home with me. Good thing I don't live near Ed or I'd have to get 2 or 3 part time jobs to pay for those fine guitars he's got. So is the SRV sounds commin out your amp yet?

Hang my head in shame, You know Whitey, the truth is I've been so busy with other thing's, (playing bass) that i haven't touched the Strat for months, and when i get to play the guitar, i go straight for my Les Paul's, I haven't had any spare time to practice, or experiment, i know i should make time, but i have been to busy with other thing's, I've got a lovely 335 sitting in it's case, not been played, and other fine guitars, it makes me wonder, what and why do i buy these fine instrument's and never get to play them, You know that's one reason why i didn't buy that Cambell guitar, Whitey, I know exactly what you mean about not trying out the Strat, if you had like it, even though you've got all the guitars you can play, you would still buy it, (or Ed's fine guitars) it's like an adrenaline rush, God this guitar is great, mm mm i love the way it playes, blah blah, I've got to buy this guitar, You get her home, play her for a few day's/week, then you end up putting her with the rest of your guitars, and go and play with your old favorite (I'm talking about myself here lol) Well that what i do, sorry about this long post (drivel) But i know, when i get the time, which will be this winter, i will get to play the Strat, that i am sure of
