Well I went all out this weekend since I was in town. Even got another slide to try out, Dunlop Heavy Wall Pyrex. Still ain't tried it yet. But I came across 2 used guitars that caught my eye. The first was a V of unknown make. All it had on it was Made In U.S.A. and a 3 leaf shamrock on the headstock. The pawn shop guy had no idea what brand it was, but it came with a case for $349.95. Looked just like a Gibson body, knobs and controls except for the 3 way. It was close to the bridge. And the bridge had adjustable knobs for the each saddle. Natural finish but was laminated. Main wood was dark brown with tan laminations, running the same way as the neck, all the way through the body. The strings had rust caked on them so he must have had it a long time. Didn't play it just held it, had a nice heavy feel to it. I like heavy guitars. The next rarity I came across was a Fernandes Burny with 3 pups. This is the famous Japan Gibson copy of the 1980s. Cherry burst finish in mint condition. I played this guitar for almost 2 hours and fell in love with it. I could swear it was a Gibson it is that close, looks, feel and sound. Even had a fake Gibson Split Diamond head inlay that made you look twice. $700 is the askin price. I'd like to have it but just not what I'm wantin. But if it's still there in 3-4 weeks it might just get a new daddy. This Burny is sweeter than an Epi Black Beauty with 3 pups. I did find a new Austin LP copy with a set neck for $350. Didn't play it but it could be the ticket. So the quest for a decent beatup LP that I can swap pups and pots in continues.

Them Greco guitars are excellent guitars, very well made, to Gibson's spec, they are like Orville by Gibson, I haven't had any experience with Burny guitars, but if their anything like the Greco, it should be good, How did it sound and feel like playing it acoustically, did it have good sustain , i allway's try the guitar without an amp, if I'm thinking of buying one, if it sustains nicely great, but if it doesn't sustain or sound good acoustically, it will never sound good IMO, I like the color of that Greco, very nice I like the Greco and Orvilles that I've tried, i have even been thinking of getting an Orville, If the Burny is anything like the Greco, (without seen it and trying it myself) I'd go for it, if your happy with the way it played and felt, it sounds right for a project. On another note, have you ever tried a Tokai, made in Japan, these are excellent guitars, good price, set neck's, PAF copy pup's, up to Gibson spec, if you get a chance, i would recommend trying one out. and if you got one of the Lawsuit one's, those are the bee's knees. They also make Korean Tokais as well, not as good as the Japanese ones, but great guitars and very very cheap to buy Now should you buy that Burny, mmmmmmmmmm If you can afford it, and you like it Hell yeah, But that just my opinion What do you think of the Dunlop glass slide, i quite like the one I've got ??

I started out on the Burny unplugged for almost an hour and it was great. Probably one of the best guitars I have ever played. And it did have a good sustain, unplugged and plugged. Played it through a small Marshall amp that they use to try out the stomp boxes. Solid state deal with a clean and dirty switch, over all a nice amp. Every place I go that lets you play always sets the amps to clean, not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm just a dirty old long haired fart. So I reset the amp to my likin and jammed out. And I still ain't tried the slide out yet. I think you're right about buyin it. I checked out an Epi Black Beauty with 3 pups and it's goin for the same price without a hard shell case. The Burny comes with a case. I might go back this weekend, maybe tomorrow. I really did like it a bunch. And the color is just what I been wantin too. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hey Whitey, I had a look on Harmony Central if there was any write up's on the Burny guitar, they did have one on the Burnny 57 Les Paul Copy, I'm not sure if this is the same one as your thinking of buying The guitar has a great write up ;D and they are made by Fernandas, and the Greco are made by Ibanez, It look's like your onto a good score there, and if the price is right, you cant really go wrong, Here's the link to the Harmony Central page reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Burnny/57+Les+Paul+Copy/10/1

Yes my friend it is a very nice guitar. And I went back yesterday just for another look. $700 is in the ballpark, comparin to evilbay. I really didn't want to spend that much but it is supposed to be a 1980-85 model and the original owner is selling it. Cause Guitar Center keeps a Gibson LP faded for the same price with 2 Burstbucker Pros. Hard decision cause I still have about 4 more places to check out for some good & used axes.

I see where your going with the price, and yes your right for that amount of money, you can find a brand new one, I see a lot getting some good deals at the Guitar Center's, (we haven't got them here in the UK) it looks like you have a lot to think about there brother.
All the best, like you say you have some more to look at
I know i have said it before, but if you get a chance try out a Tokai, for the price, they are one of the best copies that i have tried, the one that i have is amazing, they beat a lot of these copies out there, You might not like the top, but they do come with some nice bursts, as well as plain top's

That is a nice maple top, they matched the split on the grain perfectly. I love that color too. Just one thing wrong, nobody around here has those.
