Me? Uhm, I actually have reverted back to being a guitar/keyboard player for the time being, but I'll probably go back to bass player soon as our bassist will probably head back to Arizona soon. Anyhow, when I play bass I use either my Ibanez Soundgear Bass (best bass for the money out there!) or the guitar player's Fender Precision Bass. At home I have a Crate BX-100 combo amp with a single 15" speaker. I kinda annexed it from my sister who stole it from a friend of hers who stole her camera . When she played bass in my cover band, the amp always sounded like crap, but since I've had it, I've played with the settings and its got pretty good tone now. With the band, I use the guitarists old bass rig (he used to play bass) which is a Marshall guitar amp head (model eludes me at this moment) and 2 Hartke 4x10 speaker cabs. Packs a lot of punch, but no one's ever complained about NOT being able to hear us Hope that answers your question.

Jessie, you're playing bass through a guitar amp??? I thought that was a no-no.
Have there been any problems with tha amp as a result? Just curious. 'cause I might try it.

No, but keep in mind, it's just the guitar amp HEAD. The cabinets ARE bass cabinets with bass speakers. Our guitarists likes to do all sorts of no-nos. Any effect he has for vocals, he tries to use as a guitar effect and many guitar effects, he's tried on vocals. One song on our second CD, I played keyboards through a wah pedal that our drummer worked in the control room while I played. Goofy as hell, but wound up sounding pretty neat.

That's cool.
A friend of mine played bass through a Crate G160 XL guitar amp with no problems. But the experts tell me he was lucky he didn't fry it.
I bought the amp sight unseen for $25 thinking that it was a bass amp. But it's not. So i have yet another guitar amp, and still no bass amp. LOL

Yeah thanks Jesse, i was just curios about what folk's use, I used to use a Marshall guitar head with a 4 + 12 a long time ago, great sound, I then used a-as a speaker encloser a bass bin with an 18 inch Black widow in it, wow, powerful stuff, i thought it would have been boomy as hell, but with the guitar head been a bit on the topy side, it had an amazing sound, Them Hartke cabs are pretty good, the amp's aren't bad either, and very reasonable priced over here, Regarding is it bad playing a bass through a guitar amp ?? Well i can only talk about my experience, i never had any problem with my guitar amp, when i played my bass through it, and i used it for years as my rig, Now guitar amp speakers are a different thing all together, you can easy blow them or rip them by playing the bass through them, They cant handle the low frequencies of the bass,

Hey cofi
I used to use a Carlsboro 100w bass combo with my Fender Precision, miked up through the pa. (Wish I still had that sunburst model bought in the seventies from a shop in Guildford).
I always wanted a Rickenbacker 4003, and I could imitate the punchy treble sound with this rig.
Now just playing about with a Stagg bass and a Watson practise amp.

Jim Hey Jim, I always like the sound of Rickenbacker's, but never fancied one, I bet you miss the Precision, (not only for what they're going for) I've still got mine, it's a 78, i bought it new, it 's suppose to be white, but it's gone slightly yellow, with age and i suppose nicotine etc, What bass and set up would you have, if you joined another band, There's so many good cheap (as in price) not build, basses out there these day's,

If money was no object, i.e. I'd won the euro lottery it would probably be an Alembic/ampeg combination. Otherwise, I'd stick to my Stagg BC300 Gothic Black with a Carlsboro Bass Bomber combo.
