I finally got to try out my new Dunlop heavywall pyrex. Fits good and I have to admit I like the sound from the glass. The problem is I been using the 1 inch chrome slide so long the 2 incher is awkward. I did find a site that will custom build slides but I forgot to save it to my favorites. I'm gonna look for it again. They specialize in glass slides, old wine bottles. You can even send them your favorite bottle ( Jack Daniels, Wild Turkey, Vicotin, Heinz 57, whatever fits you) and they will cut and polish it to your specs and send every thing back, yes the bottom part of the bottle also as a keep sake. The local shop I try to buy everything from finally found the old chrome shorty slide I got from them 30 years ago. They were stashed away cause nobody wanted them. He gave me 3 of em free. My fingers are fatter now and it don't quite fit but I got something in mind to alter the slide.

How do you find the tone of the Dunlop glass, compared to your chrome slide,

I find it's got a deeper, thicker tone, not so bright, as the chromed, i like that sorta tone myself, IMO,

You nailed it cofi, that's just how they sound to me. The glass sound is startin to grow on me. The brass ones I cut down are ok but just a bit too big on my finger. I either gotta get a real short glass slide to try or get use to a longer one which I don't see happenin soon. After years of a 1 inch slide, it's hard for an old dog to try new tricks. Like playin open tunin, it's almost kickin my ass.

I got used to useing an old peice of Brass pipe, so my slide is Brass. I do use for more softer tone a glass one. But the brass one doesnt break when you hit the woman in the front row in the head with it....Ed

Like I've said in another thread here, I used a brass one for years, then moved onto chrome, & glass (Pyrex)
But lately I've gone back to my Brass slide, even though the new one i bought i like a lot the Moonshine Slide, it's like between the brass & chrome, tone wise, It's OK

I'm just a beginner on this slide thang, but i sure am having fun with it, but i sure can hear the difference between the slides

cofi I'm kinda curious about the real glass slide too. It's gotta sound better than pyrex.? I got a glass bottle from work, not pyrex, and the sound is just a little more bright than the dunlop pyrex but not quite like the chrome, but real close. Similar to the medicine bottle slides you can buy. I been tryin anything that will fit on my finger lately. Just another endless quest for a piece of equipment. Still haven't got a porcelain one yet, maybe soon. I still favor the real shorty slides, which are hard to find in any kind of material. I'm seriously thinkin bout emailin them to get a ultimate model, they got me on the lead crystal glass tone

whitey, I'm going to order the redhouse off them next week, looks good I'm going to have it beveled, just for the comfort like.

From my understanding they will make a slide for you out of one of your own bottle, so if you have a bottle and the neck fit's you finger right, they will cut it for you to the size you want, I:E 1 inch, sounds perfect to me if your having difficult finding the right size at the stores.

I'm not sure of the postage and likes to the States, I suppose it could get expensive sending a bottle to and fro

I remember years ago, (about 30 + ) i had an old small medicine bottle, which i used, and it sounded great and fitted well, but i lost it a long time ago, and could never find one that fitted that well or that size again, so I'm hoping that these will be something alike.

OK, i got to talk to a Ian at Diamondbottlenecks, we had a long talk very nice guy

Very cool what he had to say, they can do and use any type of glass slide you want, you can even go there and make one yourself ;D using they're machine's, really nice guy

The factory is closed for a week, for holiday's, so I'm going to talk again with him next weekend. & am going to order my slide then,
He did say if you have a bottle that you'd like to use as a slide, you can send it to them and they will turn it into a slide for you, whatever size you want, and what ever thickness you want
