From the likes of Tom Petty and Lynyrd Skynyrd to the up-and-coming southern funk of JJ Grey and Mofro, North Florida has produced great music and musicians. This region is currently the home of Yankee Slickers, a new and talented band raised under the sweltering Florida sun.
Brothers Paul and Jason Ivey formed Yankee Slickers in 2005 and, after various incarnations, have found their sound with Tom Coughter on bass and Mike Magners on drums. The members have drawn from a wide variety of influences to create an original sound in music. Everything from blues to hard rock to slick grooves permeate their music and it commands your attention. The band gets back to what real music is all about, real musicians creating great music.
In just under two years, Yankee Slickers' crusty brand of Rock and Roll has made a name for itself, its ever-growing fan base coming along for the ride. Fans have enjoyed seeing the Slickers perform with Nashville?s The Loft and Athens grown Tishamingo. Additionally, the Yankee Slickers have thrived while opening for Oteil and the Peacemakers, Foghat, and Bad Company at venues like Freebird Live, Metro Park in Jacksonville, and the Mossy Head Music Festival.
Yankee Slickers' first full length album is on the horizon and the boys will tour relentlessly to promote it. The album will capture the essence of the band: no-crap-taken, honest Rock and Roll.
News!
The band has been hard at work recording their first full length album in recent weeks and are ready to put the finishing touches on it! Make sure to keep an eye out for this much anticpated debut album.
