Bill and Mike wrote and composed most of Freedom and Whiskey's material on the first two albums. Bill sings, plays acoustic guitar, bass, keys and electric guitar. Mike sings, plays electric, acoustic, slide guitar, drums and keys. Mark sings, plays harmonica and slide guitar. The newest member of the band is Chuck Mingis, former guitarist for the band "Days of The New" and "Eden Street" from Louisville Kentucky. Through the years the members have played in several bands under different names.
The creation of Freedom and Whiskey occured around August of 2001. Bill was writing and learning the art of digital recording and production work in his home studio in southern Indiana. Mike was recording and touring with another popular group from Louisville Kentucky called Days of the New. Bill and Mike had been playing together off and on for years and decided to record their first album together. Todd Smith, co-producer of Freedom and Whiskey, had also worked with the band Days of the New in the production of their previous album. The band booked a Studio in Nashville, Tennessee to record their self-titled first album.
The self titled FIRST album "FREEDOM AND WHISKEY" includes other influences such as lyrical help from Tina Goins and musicians such as Todd Smith on piano and Hammond b3 organ. Rob Edwards added percussion and Debbra Belt and Joyce Greens added their soulful stlye of backing vocals.
In 2006 Freedom and Whiskey released their SECOND album titled "THE ROAD". Freedom and Whiskey combines the sound and style of classic and modern rock. Much of thier music is gaining popularity on internet radio and digital download sites especially the song Freedom which is to be featured in the movie "The Making of Deadbeat Dads".
