Holt met up with his old friend Grady Upchurch, bass player and vocalist, they went back a long time, and they shared a lot of history, Holt and Upchurch grew up playing in various bands around their hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee, which eventually led them to New Orleans drummer/vocalist Lee Schwartz.
They shared a lot of influences, ranging from Waylon Jennings, Grteful Dead, Charlie Daniels, and Frank Zappa, they went out and played in the south as a trio, and gained a reputation for playing quality songs and powerful shows, they gained such a considerable recognition, that they got offerd gigs outside of their region,
on 2004 they met up with keyboardist CR Gruver, and second guitarist Clarke Keown.
2005 was the year that the band broke through to the public, they released their debut record, in may, Tennessee Before Daylight, also went out on a national tour,
And since then they have gone from strenth to strenth, if you get the chance to go and see them, you would be strongly advised to go, as you want be disapponited, what with their "hypnotic" style of Southern Rock, Country Rock, Jam Band music, Outformation is a band on the brink of something big.
