I wish to pose a question to all you honky-tonkers and bar-band pickers: If a bar fight broke out while you were playing, and you had to defend yourself, would you rather be swinging a Telecaster, Stratocaster, or Les Paul? These are your only three choices; no substitutions please! True stories are welcome. (I have already seen the video of Keef smashing a knucklehead with his Tele!)
I personally would rather use a Strat, because of its beveled edges. It is more aerodynamic, and would swing faster, and the rounded edges would make a bigger dent in the skull of the ne'er-do-well who dared to interrupt my awesome solo! A Strat would also still be in tune after the head-bashing was done.

Out of them three, I'd use a telecaster, you can give a great whack with the slab body, (you can use it like a cricket bat) Also it's a lot easier to control the tele, because of the shape and it's size, it's a lot more maneuverable IMO and it'll still be in tune after beating fnuck out of someone
But seen as I've mostly played Bass, I've whacked a few with my jazz bass It's a great instrument for hitting folk's with, It has a good weight for jabbing with, excellent for swinging around (because of the weight) and hurts like hell when you get whacked on your head with it,
We where playing at one time in this hall, the stage was about 5 or 6 feet high, there was a fantastic fight going on, on the floor, a free for all, swaying from side to side, then back to front, it was like waves, fantastic, Then they started climbing up the PA speakers to the side, this was in the late 70s early 80s, so they where big speaker stacks, they where jumping from the top into the fighting below, we still carried on playing (as you do) it was great watching all this going on, Then they started trying to climb onto the stage, and that is when we started kicking them and pushing them off as they tried clambering up, They grabbed hold of one of the roadies by the foot, as he tried kicking someone trying to climb onto the stage, and dragged him off stage, poor guy, the guitarist (he was wearing cowboy boots) thought that he'd jump into the fighting crowd, feet first, to save him, As he jump'd (i can still see it ) the crowd parted and he fell flat on his back, he was lying there looking up, and all these guy's looking down and laughing at him, I just took my bass off and whacked and jabbed them as they tried to climb up on stage, it was one crazy night, of many

I had a good long think about this one, and finally chose the strat.
I used to frequent a club in Burnley (Bank Hall Miners), where every Sunday lunch-time they had bands on. The room was oblong with stage at one end and bar at the other.
No-one sat at the tables nearest the stage because if the band was crap, the guys at the bar would throw anything to hand at them. (Anything falling short would hit the tables/chairs nearest the stage).
Anyway, I figured that the strat (if reversed), would provide the largest bat, to send the projectiles back to their owners.

I would have liked seeing that show cofi, but i gotta feel for your guitarist LOL, not a clever move man Well let see, Mmmm the Gibson les Paul would be heavier, so it'd hurt more, But i would never risk breaking it by using it like a club, Not after paying so much for it I think I'd use a strat,

To answer your question, I'd use a "Les Paul" because it's got more weight to it, But I (and I'm sure i'm not the only one), dont use any of them three guitars, so not everyone's going to answer your question
