It's about time we had a biker winning this award. James Toseland has been nominated so I am asking for people to vote for him. If you check him out he is also a great piano player.

It's unusual to have a biker up for the award, i think the last one was Carl Fogerty and he never won it, not that he's got much personality but was a frigging excellent bike rider, and four time's world champion, but a real nice guy in real life, It would be good if James won though, But i think that spoiled "tit" Hamilton will win it myself, he has won a lot of people's heart's,

Yeah, pains me to say this as a Lancashire lad, but I'm voting for a Yorkshireman. James has been world superbike champ twice, but moving to gp next year, as did Neil Hodgson a few years back. A good biker is worth twenty footballers.

Well he'll get my vote ;D, even though, Joe Calzaghe is a great boxer (and Welsh ) and is a world champion, but he's only just won the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year Award for 2007. So Yeah, I'm going to vote for James Toseland

Yeah, i was surprised that Joe won For two reason's, #1-He's not that well known (even though he's been a WBO super middleweight champion boxer for 10 years) but he's never been hyped and not had much media exposure in all that time, until recently this year. #2- that he's Welsh LOL.

Nowt wrong with being Welsh, cofi. My wife's dad came from Pontypool, hence my interest in Sassafras and Budgie et al. Incidentally, did you know that Ralph Evans and Dai Shell from Sassafras run Sounds In Motion Studios in Cardiff. Check out the web-site. Jim

Oh OK Jim, i thought you might have had them playing at the custom show, and that was the connection I had heard something about it, I've been and used Rockfield studios at Monmouth, Budgie was there at the same time, they where at the other studio (they have two) so didn't see much of them.

Hi cofi Our first contact with Sassafras was when we saw them play at the Bold St. Working Mens Club in Accrington. ;D The type of music they played, heavily influenced by US country, immediately appealed to us. So much so that we saw them at every opportunity. My eldest son is named after the original bass player, (I play bass too) Ricky John Holt. When they reformed in 2000 we were lucky, cos my brother Kev is director of a company which has a branch in Cardiff and one of the staff there (Harley rider) heard about it. So we've been down there and also Nottingham where they played at the Boat Club. I don't know whether you know, but they do have a website listing all their gigs except the Americana International Festival next year. The ex-lead singer Terry Bennett was living in Spain in a lovely villa, where he made a living playing the bars and clubs, but unfortunately he suffered a stroke (he loved his beer and lived his life to the full) and is due to move back over here to Nottingham. Great band. Jim
