Slammer-NlightN Panels

I'm going to post this here, as we haven't got a section for P As, here,

I get these emails from a shop that i bought something off them once, and sometimes they send something that's interesting, anyway.

I've never seen these before, they look interesting, the speakers are the thing that interest me, their like flat, like the flat screen TVs, you could easy carry this PA in car's boot (trunk) with no trouble, OK for small pubs as a vocal PA,






The Slammer II......
The slammer has been designed with a small footprint, and is capable of being used in vertical or horizontal orientation to fit in with instilations as required. The cabinet is robustly constructed from 18mm plywood with asymetric internal bracing to reduce cabinet modes and standing waves. A tough steel grille protects the speakers.

The NlightN Panels......
Utilising patented NXT tecnology, NlightN panels reproduce sound in a completely new way, providing wide projection, increased sound pressure levels, and feedback free performance. Most importantly the sound quality is equally as good as any top quality cone-driven conventional speaker. With endless applications, the NlightN may be used alone for inobtrusive sound reinforcement in install situations, or in conjunction with the specially designed Slammer sub for an amazingly portable live sound rig.

It's amazing what they come out with these day's,

And they only weigh 8kg. As opposed to my cabinets which weigh a quadjillion lbs. LOL

I just saw an infomercial this mornin about a new Bose system for your TV. 2 itsy bitsy speakers that give you the effect of a 5 speaker surround system. Unbelievable what they can do sometimes. Oh, so is the price for this new technology.

Them Bose have been doing this for a long time, I'm sure they are the first one's that started making these small speaker systems (sorry don't know the proper terminology for them),

Because i remember back in 77 or 78, we had a gig at a festival, and they where using a Bose P A system, we had never used one before,
We where used to having a massive speaker system, and these Bose where so small, we thought them little things are not going to be able handle the show, but bloody hell they did, we where well shocked ,

And now they're coming out with these flat wall mounted speakers, (they have for a few years) for you sound systems, and speakers that look like painting's and as Whitey posted, 2 itsy bitsy speakers that give you the effect of a 5 speaker surround system, what next,

Technology-what they can come up with is amazin. I can remember back when I was a kid, mid 60s, when the TV repairman would come to our house and change out the tubes that went out. Back when all we had was black and white with knobs that turned and only 4 channels.

But, no your right, in the last 20 to 30 years technology has bounded forward, every year they come out with new toy's for us to play with ;D

Like a few years ago, they had these big disc's with films on them (cant remember their name's) then they brought out videos, then DVDs, now they've come out with another disc called MODS, which holds, hundred of hours of programs

New Disk Format Can Store Lord of The Rings 13 Times

Just when we were all coming round to the idea of ditching our long-standing relationship with the video recorder in favor of a state of the art DVD player, researchers at Imperial College, London, announced this week that they have come up with a new design for a digital disk which, despite being the same size as a traditional CD or DVD, will be able to store up to 200 times more information - enough, in fact, to hold every episode of the Simpsons ever made, or the complete Lord of the Rings trilogy, 13 times over. That's about 470 hours of film. Peter Torok and his team, who have come up with the new disc-design, have christened their invention MODS (no, nothing to do with violent 1960's yob factions, it actually stands for Multiplex Optical Data Storage. Under the microscope, CDs and DVD's consist of a long groove or track, a bit like a race course, which spirals out from the centre of the disc towards the edge. If you unwound this groove it would stretch about three and a half miles. At regular points along the track - think of them as the furlongs on our race track analogy, the disc contains either a small pit, or the surface is left flat. The sequence of these pits and flat areas is used to digitally encode the data on the disc. The new MODS system takes the design a step further. The pits are asymmetrically shaped and contain a sunken step precisely positioned at one of 332 different angles. The angle of the step in the pit can therefore encode the information meaning that each pit can carry 10 times more information than in a traditional CD or DVD. The new system will be designed to be reverse-compatible with existing technologies like CDs and DVDs. Critically it will also enable developers to make storage devices much smaller than they are today.

It's good in one way, but it does get frigging expensive, it enough with buying games and consoles, for the kids, (and myself ) X box 1,2,3, then the P S, they come out with new one's near enough every year, and they sell millions,
