Robot LP Studio and Robot SG Special Now Available in a Variety of New Finishes
The launch of Gibson’s Limited Edition Robot Guitar last year proved to be the single most significant and talked-about advancement in electric guitar technology in decades. Not since the introduction of the humbucker pickup and Tune-o-matic bridge in the mid 1950s—of course, also Gibson innovations—had a new technology made such an important improvement to the world’s most beloved instrument.
Gibson’s Robot Guitar—the world’s first self-tuning guitar—essentially redefined the power and possibility of a guitar to capture the imagination of players all around the world. The Limited Edition Robot Guitars hit stores on a Friday, and were gone by Monday—a head-spinning launch that left 4,000 very lucky new owners incredibly happy, and thousands more demanding another opportunity to own a Gibson with the amazing ability to tune itself.
So, while there will never be another Limited Edition First-Run Robot Guitar, Gibson is very proud to answer the demand of thousands of loyal Gibson players around the world by announcing the availability of the new Robot Les Paul Studio Ltd., and the Robot SG Special Ltd. It’s another chance to own Gibson’s ground-breaking technology.
The new Robot Les Paul Studio Ltd. combines the power and performance of Gibson’s iconic Les Paul model with the revolutionary Robot Tuning System. The new Robot SG takes the classic styling and superior tone of Gibson’s most popular and best-selling model and fuses it with the self-tuning robotic technology. Together, the new models represent the most functional, eye-catching Les Pauls and SGs in decades.
The Robot Tuning System featured on both guitars offer a standard EADGBE tuning preset, and six additional, totally programmable tuning presets, allowing players the ability to change tunings in seconds—all at the touch of a button. Both guitars also feature a performance-safeguarding Neutrik jack, which secures the cord into the guitar and minimizes the chance of losing your connection during a performance.
And while the Limited Edition Robot Guitar was limited to just one color, the new Robot Les Paul and SG comes in a variety of metallic and standard finishes. The new Robot Les Paul Studio Ltd. is available in Purple Metallic, Green Metallic, Red Metallic, Manhattan Midnight, Ebony, Wine Red, Silverburst, Desertburst, and Fireburst. The new Robot SG Special Ltd. is available in Purple Metallic, Green Metallic, Red Metallic, Natural Burst, Cherry, Ebony, and Silverburst.
Several appointments also distinguish the models with metallic finishes from those with standard finishes. The Robot Les Paul Studio Ltd. models with metallic finishes (Purple, Green, Red, and Silverburst) come equipped with white binding around the fingerboard and headstock, and Gibson’s traditional mother of pearl inlaid logo and Holly inlay on the headstock. The standard finishes (Manhattan Midnight, Ebony, Wine Red, Desertburst, and Fireburst) come with rosewood binding around the fingerboard, and Gibson’s traditional silk-screened logos on the headstock.
The Robot SG Special Ltd. with metallic finishes (Purple, Green, Red, and Silverburst) feature acrylic trapezoid inlays, white fingerboard binding, carbon fiber-style pickguard, chrome pickup covers, and Gibson’s traditional mother of pearl inlaid logo and Holly inlay on the headstock. The standard finishes (Natural Burst, Cherry, and Ebony) come with acrylic dot inlays, uncovered pickups, and Gibson’s traditional silk-screened logo and SG truss rod cover on the headstock.
Each Robot model comes with its own charger and power plug, battery pack, and a beautiful black reptile pattern hardshell case with white plush interior and the silver Gibson USA logo on the front.
