Wilson took his cues from the likes of ZuZu Bollin, Cat Man Fleming, Frankie Lee Sims, Mercy Baby and Nappy "Chin" Evans.
Boogie Chillun' was formed by Wilson when he moved from Dallas to Fort Worth with drummer and vocalist Robert Ealey. Sometime later he worked with Cornell Dupree.
During the late 70's, Wilson could be heard in a local Fort Worth bar called The Blue Bird. Wilson began touring the local area in 1987.
Wilson also was renown for what he called the "table trick" where he could place his guitar on a table and play a song with one hand while smoking a cigarette or drinking a beer with the other. Pretty cool.
U.P.Wilson died in France at the age of 70.
